The twelve people elected during a calendar year become the shortlist for PnyxAletheia — the first worldwide prize for truthtellers, conceived in the Nobel tradition and awarded once donor backing is in place.

The year's twelve icons are carried forward automatically. Nobody applies, nobody lobbies, and no donor may add a name.
An honorary council of former truthtellers, jurists and editors selects the laureate from the twelve, and the prize is paid directly and unconditionally.
