Nominations open all month

Put a name forward

Anyone, from anywhere. A whistleblower in a ministry, a reporter in a provincial town, a nurse, an auditor, a soldier, a neighbour with a phone. If they told a truth that cost them something, they belong on this ballot.

No borders

Every country on earth is eligible, including yours, including ones with no press freedom at all. Write in any language — we translate.

No credentials needed

You do not have to know the person, be a journalist, or provide documents. Two honest sentences and a link are enough to start.

Safety comes first

We contact the person before publishing wherever we can, and we will not put anyone on a public ballot if it would endanger them. Read the safeguards →

Politicians count too

Ministers, mayors, judges, diplomats, police officers and civil servants are eligible — for one specific truth that cost them something, never for their politics. The four conditions →

You can add a photograph

A face on the ballot changes how people vote — but only send one you have the right to share, and never one that reveals where somebody is.

Self-nomination is fine

For many people there is nobody left who knows the whole story. Self-nominations are verified exactly like any other.

Nomination

Who are you nominating?

Never send documents or evidence. This is an ordinary web form, not a secure channel. Tell us what is already public, and link to it. If the story has not been published yet, do not describe it here — write to us first.
Form endpoint not connected yet. Replace YOUR_FORM_ID in the form's action attribute with your Formspree, Netlify Forms or Google Forms endpoint and this will start delivering to your inbox. See README.md.
Or a description, if naming them publicly would be unsafe.
Two or three sentences is plenty. Plain language beats formal language.
Dismissal, prosecution, exile, threats, ruin, silence — whatever happened after.
A portrait puts a face on the ballot, and faces change how people vote. JPG or PNG, up to 5 MB. You can add a link instead if you prefer.

We publish a credit with every image, and we cannot use a photo we can't attribute.
Before you attach anything: strip the location. Photographs carry GPS coordinates, dates and device details in their metadata — a portrait can reveal where someone lives or is hiding. Send a published press photo where one exists, screenshot the image rather than sending the original file, and never send a picture of somebody in danger without asking them first.
Anything public: an article, a court listing, an NGO statement, a video.
A lawyer, an organisation or a public account is safer than a personal address.

What happens next

From your form to the ballot

  1. We verify

We check the published record and, where needed, ask a member organisation of the Truthteller Society in that country to confirm the facts.

  2. We ask them

Wherever we can reach the person, we ask whether they want to be named, described anonymously, or left out entirely. Their answer decides, and can change at any time.

  3. They go on the ballot

Accepted nominations appear at the start of the following month, in the order they were received, with no editorial ranking.

  4. Nothing is wasted

Nominations that are not selected stay in the pool for later months, and every verified nominee is eligible for the PnyxAletheia annual prize shortlist.
